Sunshine Coast Business of the year Ascent Building Solutions has been recognised nationally amongst Australia’s fastest growing companies. The entrepreneurial firm ranked 26 out of the 100 national finalists, being one of 13 companies representing Queensland and ranking the third highest Queensland Company.
The BRW Fast Starters 2009 competition looks at trends across fast growing companies and includes profiles of many of the finalists. The list showcases entrepreneurial and growing businesses from across the economy and highlights strategies and tactics they use to be successful. Sean Aylmer, BRW Editor in Chief says “previous members of the BRW Fast Starters list have graduated to make the BRW fast 100 list and the most successful have been on the BRW Rich 200.” The local company specialises in supplying and installing metal roofing, asbestos roof replacements and rainwater tanks, from their premises at Beerwah. They also supply builders and home handymen with building materials including purlins, battens, insulation, ventilators and guttering to name a few. If that wasn’t enough they also service customers from Lismore right up to Cairns and out as far west as Longreach.
Having started the business in 2005, the young directors Jared Hinkley and Terry Styles (both 29) are extremely happy with the growth of their company and the reputation they have built. They take great pride in their community involvement and prove that you don’t have to be based in a CBD location to run a successful company.
Both Jared and Terry attribute their success to their careful planning of every aspect of the business, and the fact that they are driven to go above and beyond for each of their clients. “Our customers (including multi-national companies) utilise our services because have the experience and capacity to handle all of their jobs professionally and promptly, no matter where they are located. We boast a truly mobile workforce, which enables us to offer our high levels of service anywhere in the country - We are just completing a project on Thursday Island, and recently finished jobs on Stradbroke Island, Russell Island and Macleay Island” Terry commented. In such a short amount of time, the energetic duo have created a very successful business and have won numerous Sunshine Coast Business Excellence awards including; Winner 2008 Business of the Year, Winner 2008 Construction and Building, Winner 2007 Entrepreneurial Business of the Year, Winner 2006 Construction and Building. “We are ecstatic with the result and are pleased to represent the Sunshine Coast on the national stage” Jared added.
When asked what the future holds for Ascent, they mentioned that they are in the process of building a new showroom at Caloundra Street in Landsborough, where they look to expand the services they have on offer. The custom built premises will allow them to showcase their vast range of products in a convenient and easily accessible area for Hinterland Customers.
