ASBESTOS ROOF REPLACEMENTS
Home / Services / Asbestos Roof Replacements
Ascent has an outstanding asbestos removal track record and currently works with government departments, insurance companies, builders and private homeowners to safely remove and replace the hazardous material. Our professional and courteous teams of installers have many years of experience in the field and you can rely on this expertise to make the entire process stress free and cost effective. We will safely transform your roof into a masterpiece, with very little (if any) disruption to your normal daily activities.
Whilst inspecting the property for the first time, our specialist team complete an inspection checklist which specifically identifies any areas which need particular attention or a different approach, compared to our standard procedures. This process alone can save an invaluable amount of time and money as it minimises unforseen issues.
For a standard sized house, the entire process is scheduled to be completed in one day, and is broken down into the following steps;
SITE ESTABLISHMENT
Ascent prides itself on its safe work methods, and every removal conforms to Workplace Health and Safety standards. Before any work commences, air testing monitors are setup at the perimeters of the property to ensure the removal process is happening correctly at all times. Openable penetrations such as gable vents and airconditioners are wrapped in plastic for the duration of the process. If necessary, edge protection and temporary access scaffolding are also erected.
REMOVAL
With the site now safe, work can commence on the removal of the asbestos roof. A PVA glue compound is applied to the roof and the nails are then removed. The sheets are lifted onto a cradle (if two storey) and positioned onto a plastic wrapping station on the ground, where they are wrapped, taped up and again sprayed with a PVA glue compound. The bundles of sheets are then neatly and safely stored ready for collection by an EPA approved licensed transporter, who disposes of the material accordingly. Whilst this is happening the team vacuum the ceiling cavity to remove any asbestos traces, and then apply a layer of PVA glue to the entire ceiling to ensure that any remaining particles are safely contained.
REPLACEMENT
Once the roof is removed and safely stored, the installers upgrade the existing tie downs to the roof structure. They then install the new metal roof and accessories as designed for the property. At this stage, roof insulation installation is recommended, as there will never be a more convenient and cost effective time to do it. Many people adopt this approach as there is an obvious thermal difference between the thick asbestos material and the new Colorbond or Zincalume material.
COMPLETION
Once all of the above has been completed and the sealed packs of asbestos and other waste have been removed from site, the installers finish cleaning the roof, and leave the site ready for you to occupy again.
